Why would this court be so excited to throw everyone in jail instead of saying "these are your fines., pay them online or come to court and pay them" instead of saying "You will be arrested if you even attempt to handle your fines". This is ridiculous.
Germantown Court only meets for one day out the week which is Wednesday night. They have very few other cases to deal with so they treat traffic fines like murder or bank robbery. I have never had to plead with a court to resolve traffic violations. EVER.
These are the most crooked underhanded bunch of bigoted hateful people I have EVER seen. Where are the damn Feds when you need them? No court should make it so difficult to resolve some damn tickets. What the heck.
Going over 10 miles is over $100 something dollars seriously! It's not that serious.. too expensive! Germantown will make everything expensive just so they can live better for themselves
Germantown Municipal Court is unlike any court I have ever dealt with. They are very unreasonable. I have traffic tickets and I have been told to get a lawyer. The attorneys salivate when you say Germantown TN. Tickets in most other cities the lawyers charge $75 to $150 a piece to handle, in Germantown the lawyers all want thousands of dollars. Just to come to traffic court which is no more than 15 minutes.
What is scary is that we have small courts like Germantown Court all throughout the South and all throughout the country. They operate different and go by a different set of rules. They don't answer to anyone. And this is very dangerous.
I went in for a speeding ticket to hopefully get dismissed. First you wait in a long line (mine was 30min) to speak with an officer. He asked me "guilty or not guilty" and I told him I had never had a ticket. He said it could be dismissed if I could pay my cost today. Luckily I could and they do take credit cards. So off to another line (30 more minutes). When it was my turn there was confusion but I believe I paid $135 in court cost and hopefully it's not going to be in my driving record.I say hope because another lady had to come help my clerk and I heard them discussing whether or not she did it correctly so only time will tell.
I called Nashville and complained and was told that unless I speak to a judge there is nothing that can be done. I was told by the folks in Nashville to call the FBI which I did call the FBI and informed them that every overture I have made to the court to take care of my traffic fines I have been threatened with arrest and every overture has been rebuffed.
Why arrest someone who has a basic traffic violation instead of letting them pay the violation or speak with a judge? Why threaten someone that if they show up they will be arrested on the spot.. For a basic traffic violation.
I can't wait until this court gets shut down by higher authorities or the folks in charge led away in handcuffs. I have never seen folks so unwilling to work with people. Where every other court will work with people and provide several ways to take care of tickets, Germantown won't offer not one way but through arrest.
